PRACTICAL FIRST AID COURSE

Ballinora Red Cross is holding a Practical First Aid Course over two Saturdays in March.

The course will take place in Ballinora GAA Hall from 9.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. on Sat March 3rd and Sat March 10th.

The cost is 80.00 Euro per person.

The Diocese of Cork and Ross invites Young Adults 18-25 year olds to come to Lourdes as helpers from 11th to 16th June.  As helpers you will assist with the sick and be involved in the full pilgrimage programme as well as time for prayer, for making new friends and sharing

RETIRED GENTLEMAN'S CLUB

Well done to the Retired Gentlemens Club who, earlier in the  week dispatched a crack unit, armed with shovels, picks, tampers, brushes,tarmac and banter,and made good the potholes in the roadway in to the G.A.A. grounds.It was they said, a gesture on their part, of neighbourliness and appreciation of all you, their friends, who use this central  facility.

Thanks again lads, or should we say, retired gents! 

 

PERSON OF THE YEAR AWARD:

Each year, a Ballinora person is conferred with the title ‘Ballinora Person of the Year’. The award is give to someone who is judged by the Parish Council members to have done something valuable for the community and parish, and who is held in respect. It does not have to be specifically church-related. Past recipients include: Peggy Kelleher RIP (parish involvement, pilgrimages etc), Ursula Mulvihill (Church Music), Donie Healy RIP (GAA activities), Eamonn Lane (Fundraising and renovation), Tom and Gerard Dineen (Grotto maintenance), Pat and Imelda O Connor (Community Association, Red Cross etc), Francis Hurley (Church maintenance, etc), and last year, Carmel Drinan (Scouts, parish etc). A broad range of people and activities have been honoured. Nomination forms for this year are available this weekend, and should be submitted to the Sacristy, Fr Declan, or any member of the Parish council before Sunday March 4th.
